Political Unrest in Sudan Triggers Evacuation of Foreign Diplomatic Staff and Citizens:

The conflict in Sudan between a military and a paramilitary group entered in the second week. It has caused devastation in the country. Although United Nations Secretary-General Antonie Guterres has asked the fighting groups to a ceasefire during Eid Daays but in vain. Now, the conflict is becoming more and more complex with every passing day. The Capital of the country, Khartoum, has turned into a battleground. The residents of Khartoum have started to migrate to other cities in the country. In the same way, foreign countries have started to evacuate their staff and citizens from Sudan.

United States:

“Today, on my orders, the United States military conducted an operation to extract US government personnel from Khartoum,” Said President Biden

With the start of the war in Sudan, the United States asked its staff and citizens to shelter in specific places. After it, United Special Forces did an operation to evacuate its staff and citizens from Khartoum. Helicopters of the USA flee from Khartoum to Etopia. The United States thanked Ethiopia and Saudia Arabia for helping in evacuating their citizens. US Embassy in Sudan has suspended its activities due to security risks in the country.

International military operations fly foreigners out of Sudan

United Kingdom:

UK armed forces have completed a complex and rapid evacuation of British diplomats and their families from Sudan, amid a significant escalation in violence and threats to embassy staff,”  tweeted Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of Britain.

Rishi Sunak said that the UK is trying to agree with both groups to cease fire for humanitarian purposes. He said that the UK ensures the security of its citizens and diplomatic staff in Sudan.

Russia:

Like other countries, Russia has also planned to evacuate its citizens from Sudan. 15 Russian citizens have been stuck in Orthodox Church in Khartoum. According to the Russian ambassador in Sudan 300 Russian citizens are living in Sudan out of them only 130 people want to leave Sudan

Saudia and Kuwait:

Arabs are a specific minority in Sudan. In addition to it, many citizens of Gulf countries are living in Sudan. Both fighting groups have close relations with Sauida and UAE. Saudia is playing a key role in evacuating its citizens and friendly countries. Saudia is evacuating citizens from Sudan through ships. These citizens have arrived at Jaddah Seaport.

Other Countries:

Other countries like Belgium, Germany, Netherlands,s and Italy are also evacuating their citizens. Jordan said that it has sent four plans to evacuate its citizens. No country wants to keep its diplomatic staff and citizens working in Sudan.

Final Words:

A state should not compromise its security. Inner conflicts in a state destructs it and make it a dangerous state. Not even a single country wants to keep a diplomatic relations with a dangerous country. So, the fighting groups should solve the problem of the transfer of power through dialogues. The international community should also play its role in making compromises between both groups. United Nations should call an emergency meeting of the members of the Security Council to solve the problem of Sudan.
